EHG Garden Teacher Training

12 DSS Hours | $4,000= Up to 12 people *$200 Additional participants

Using a garden to teach the next generation is a responsibility we owe our children. The transcendental wisdom a garden provides is not only backed up by scientific resources, it is a way of living; a vocabulary and understanding of data collection, reading predictions and results, biology, chemistry and physics.

Earth Heart Growers is currently offering a Garden Teacher Training on the East Coast!

Teachers are training in the basics of gardening and will have access to a printed curriculum with 40 different garden lessons aligned with SC Standards to guaranteeing the academic support to the students.

Growing food teaches us that plants are alive, and that they show us an understanding of a deep relationship with the environment and ourselves. The miracle of reality is that it’s perfectly designed and functions as such, since as long as we can remember as humans. Currently, we as a society are so busy that we have forgotten the basics. The opportunity to share with the next generation is in our hands, NOW! Many are beginning to seek a return to a more harmonious connection with nature, a rare jewel in these times.

When teaching gardening, we open the opportunity to use real life experiences as a new tool that builds self-control, concentration and motivation. It is easy to forget what we memorize, but it is easy to remember what we have experienced.

Math, science, language, arts, physical education, all become one with the whole being; standards are not taken out of the picture, they are now to be incorporated into the practice of a garden curriculum, without a need for pressure. Together, you and your students will internalize concepts, mechanisms and processes, while learning to become active members of the community you live in and the habitat you belong to. This connection and modeling of conscious behaviors will foster an appreciation for more balanced relationships and lead to a positive impact on the environment.
